Over at GoodReads, there is a group that I have belonged to since its beginning. It is called the Seasonal Reading Challenge. The year is divided into four seasons and each season starts a new challenge with new challenges to complete. March – May is the Spring Challenge, June-August is the Summer Challenge, September-November is the Fall Challenge, and December – February is the Winter Challenge.
I have participated in over 10 of these challenges, and I have yet to actually finish one. However, the challenges causes you to expand your reading horizons and I have discovered so many good books through the challenges. I have read some non-fiction books I would have never picked up (definitely not my genre of choice). Starting the reading challenges is what got me reading again. I don’t read as much as I would like to… I don’t even get a book a week, but I do read a lot more than I used to.
Anyway, all that to say, if you think you are up to it, you should definitely check out the Seasonal Reading Challenge. You can join in at any time and there is absolutely no obligation to finish. The majority of people who participate in the SRC don’t finish it. You can make personal goals and such. It is totally up to you.
